The Joy Collection by Bailey Nelson

INTRODUCING THE JOY COLLECTION

Also, enter for your chance to win two pairs of Bailey Nelson glasses!

I remember growing up and pestering my parents for a pair of reading glasses. Memories of being young and sneaking visits to Claire's Accessories in Belfast to try on fake glasses and thinking they were just the absolute bees knees make me giggle now that I think back. The days before selfies existed, thank heavens.

I also used to try on my grandparents' glasses, too, strutting the hallways of their home and catching glimpses of myself, or I should say, my distorted self, in their full length landing mirror. Their prescriptions were so strong that I'd feel onset dizziness within moments.

As I hit my mid-twenties, after almost seven years of at least eight hours a day staring at my computer, followed by hours of reading in the evenings, I noticed that my eyesight wasn't as crystal clear as it once was.

I had a close friend who purchased some eyewear from Bailey Nelson, and decided to give them a go. While booking an optical appointment on the website, I noticed that they also offered direct billing, which was great since I had workplace insurance.

The optical exam confirmed what I suspected — my eyesight was indeed failing. No more false glasses, it was time for the real ones I hoped for as a kid. Thankfully, there was no shortage of stylish options at Bailey Nelson, and I left the store with a pair of Palmer frames.

I've followed the Australian brand ever since, and was thrilled to hear about the recent Joy Collection, a feel-good offering and cheerful celebration of colour.

Designed in-house, in Sydney, the limited edition forty-five frame range is available in Optical and Non-Prescription Sunglasses, featuring rounded shapes, and new colours.

Every pair, retailing at $145, includes scratch-resistant, anti-reflective lenses.

The Joy Collection is manufactured using plant-based acetate, which is a win for me, because it's more sustainable and better for our planet. They're comfortable, and also malleable, ideal for heating and cooling to get the perfect fit.

I can attest to the quality of my Palmer's, having battered them around on multiple trips, often out of their case (not recommended) — however, they're still in perfect condition.

Bailey Nelson is committed to using only the finest materials in all their frames, sourcing their acetate from an industry renowned company with over 150 years of experience in producing premium quality acetate.

Not only that, every element is of the highest quality, including the metal components (hinges, and custom wire cores) which are designed by German engineers before being crafted at their factory in Shenzhen.

Every frame is then assembled by hand, and made just for you.
